If Android is the UNIX of Mobile Than Would Apple…?

Most of us was expecting Android to become popular and to outsell iOS (this is currently true for the phones. I’m not sure about the tablets but give it a year or less) but not this fast. It is generating a lot of buzz and developer buy-in but there’s also some scepticism about its potential fragmentation. So the analogy that we keep hearing is “Will Android become UNIX of Mobile?”. And when I hear this I’m asking “Then would Apple build their next OS on Android?”.

Yep, fragmentation is a killer here. Spent 2 weeks trying to come up with some nice interface just to find out i was testing on top of totally customized packages from samsung. So I might end up just targeting those ~10mil galaxy s owners and I want more than that :)!

Android fragmentation issue is well under control. Wait for the release of Icecream Sandwich in Q4 2011 which consolidates all Andorid platforms into one (mobile, tablet, tv). So apps developed using the Icream sandwich version will work across all Andoird dvices with least or no customization. Android is already the UNIX of Mobile, no question abt that.
